EMCC Software created the client for Symbian based smartphones that enabled interaction with Avaya’s latest PBX solution.

Avaya’s IP PBX

As one of the four leading market players within the telephony solutions market, Avaya is well renowned for providing PBX systems based on IP networks that include the latest features and capabilities. Their products are primarily aimed at large scale enterprises and so require a high degree of sophistication to provide the most effective telephony solutions that incur as low calling charges as possible for their clients.

Creating the Symbian Clients

With the advent of VoIP as a potential provider of very low cost telephony, Avaya decided to create a product capable of providing VoIP options as part of the package. Part of this project involved engaging EMCC to create the appropriate Symbian clients for a range of devices. The project required ensuring that the devices could access the range of capabilities available to fixed line devices as part of the PBX system and that the VoIP capability available on the handsets was properly exploited.
