EMCC worked with Motorola Networks to develop a PTT client that could be distributed and installed to the increasing number of Symbian OS based handsets.
Motorola Networks has a Push-To-Talk (PTT) server solution that has captured 60% of the global PTT server market. To help broaden the target market for the server solution, support for phones across a wide range of platforms was a critical requirement. As the dominants smartphone platform, with high profile capabilities, extending the PTT client to Symbian OS gives Motorola access to animportant and rapidly expanding customer base.
Initially Motorola had outsourced the development of a proof-of- concept client, but it was failing to meet the expected quality standards. At this point Motorola decided to commission EMCC to review the interim solution and provide a detailed analysis of the work needed to bring the project to completion. Once this analysis was performed EMCC Software was engaged to complete and support the final product.
This project enabled EMCC Software to demonstrate its capabilities in turning around an existing code base that had significant problems and complexities that had not been adequately addressed. Motorola required an experienced organisation with thorough Symbian, S60 and UIQ experience in order to be able to produce a stable solution that met their requirements for high quality.
