Java MIDP

In addition to providing C++ solutions for a variety of platforms, EMCC has also created detailed Java solutions often involving extensions and enhancements to Java implementations.

Java has attracted great interest in mobile development due to the reduced amount of porting required between different platforms. Some examples of EMCC’s experience in this area are given below:

MIDP Extensions, JSR Implemetentation

Implementing MIDP extensions for Siemens. The project involved extending the MIDP APIs, JAM enhancements, JSR implementations and producing a suite of MIDlets to fully test the new Java API's and setting up and testing against the Sun TCK (Testing Conformance Kit). Vladimir Minenko, Siemens ICM, Mobile phones, said, “EMCC Software worked for Siemens Mobile Phones to provide first-class implementations of Symbian OS and Java extensions required by our new handsets”.

JSR Implmentatons, TCK conformance testing

Implementing JSRs and testing them against the TCK suite for Panasonic.

MIDP Implementations

EMCC works with Symbian, licensees and operators on the implementation of MIDP extensions in Symbian OS. This includes feasibility studies, analysis, design & implementation of Java APIs and JSRs, plus investigation into implementing VSCL on the Symbian platform.
