m-Call, the mobile application from EMCC Software, allows users to make calls through service provider or company PBX systems from mobile handsets. It offers the combination of access to PBX functions and potential cost savings while being both simple to use and fully integrated into the device platform.

Mobile users have until recently had very little choice over how their telephony services are provided. However there is now much greater choice from service providers and PBX manufacturers able to integrate mobile telephony options into their products and services. The rise in the number of handsets with VoIP capability has also provided further service options for users.

m-Call is a mobile integration solution for manufacturers and resellers of PBX systems and telephony service providers and allows the user to make calls over a chosen service network. This provides increased traffic to the service network provider but also enables users to benefit with calls often being made at comparatively lower tariff rates. In addition mobile handsets can access the rich set of PBX functions allowing such capabilities as one-number dialling (for mobile and deskphone) short-code dialling, conferencing, call transferring, and call recording.

The m-Call Solution

The m-Call solution is made up of three important components

m-Call Client Application – m-Call uses only a client application installed on the handset; no middleware server is required. It is fully integrated with the device platform and uses existing contact details.
m-Call UI – designed for maximum ease of use, the m-Call user interface can be fully customised and branded to fit any corporate image or design requirements.
m-Call Provisioning – the m-Call client application is distributed using a Provisioning Service that also enables settings and configurations to be loaded over-the-air (OTA) along with the application itself. User involvement in the process is minimal and the service allows complete management of deployment and configuration centrally in conjunction with selected policies.

A key feature of the m-Call application is Intelligent Call Routing (ICR) which provides the capability to capture all calls made on the handset and route them by particular priorities such as “least cost” or “highest quality”. These options are entirely configurable depending on customer preference.
