Motorola utilizes EMCC’s unique development skills to create exciting applications for its range of smartphones.

Push-To-Talk

As part of a strategy of offering new services on their servers and smartphones, Motorola undertook to create a solution known as “Push-To-Talk” (PTT) based on Push-over-Cellular (PoC) technology which would provide half-duplex (i.e. capable of transmitting in either direction but only one at a time) communication at the push of a button. This is often described as “Walkie-Talkie” style communication. It was also designed to be capable of linking multiple users so that groups could participate.  Motorola also required two versions of their PTT solution to be developed, one which would be compliant with Motorola’s proprietary software and another which would be written to Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standards. EMCC were responsible for developing solutions for both requirements.

For more detail on the Push-To-Talk solution please see our Motorola Case Study.

Other Motorola Experience

In addition to PTT, EMCC created other services for Motorola including Push-To-View which enabled images to be sent to the other person during a telephone conversation. EMCC are also providing extended support and maintenance for the various solutions created for Motorola.
