EMCC views Corporate Responsibility as integral and essential as to how it conducts its business and how it interacts with stakeholders, legal and tax frameworks and the environment wherever it operates around the world. It is committed to being a good corporate citizen and regards its ethical values as fundamental to its success.

Ethical Conduct

Our reputation is our most valuable asset. It is central to our ability to attract and retain both customers and employees.  Our internal code of conduct requires employees to act at all times with honesty, integrity, respect and fairness. Openness and transparency are requisite throughout the company’s activities.  The Company complies with all applicable laws, regulations and directives of each country in which it operates and insists that its people do the same including but not limited to local, national, regional and international laws, regulations and directives. These values are introduced during induction, reiterated through training programs and regular company briefings and reinforced constantly through line management, project management and performance appraisal.

EMCC practices a policy of zero tolerance of corruption and bribery and ensure that all employees comply with all anti-corruption and bribery laws and regulations in each territory in which it operates and accepted international standards.

Employees

All EMCC’s activities are focused on achieving corporate objectives and all carry the same degree of priority, responsibility and requirement to achieve across the whole group. The Company is committed to a rigorous process of attracting and recruiting world-class talent and endeavours to maintain excellent staff retention levels by ensuring continual training, mentoring, line management, active career management and career opportunities.

EMCC maintain aspirations and standards of values and behaviours across the Group with an overall focus on our customer’s needs and technical excellence. We ensure clear corporate and personal objectives and promote forward thinking and planning and a positive “make it happen” attitude. We practice empowerment, encouraging people to take and use their initiative, make decisions and work outside of their defined job description where necessary. We ask our people to embrace responsibility in the spirit and practice of teamwork, candour and communication.

The Company communicates with its people in many different ways including formal company briefings and various management and team meetings both formal and informal. The Company also distributes an internal newsletter and operates a Wiki as a repository of much varied and diverse information. EMCC is a meritocratic organisation; therefore, there are feedback processes for individuals working on specific projects and an appraisal review process that ensures fair and consistent performance appraisal, promotion and access to opportunities for all employees.

The Company operates clear disciplinary procedures and applies them fairly and equally to all employees. There is a clear process to ensure grievance and complaints are dealt with effectively.

Health & Safety

The Company complies with Health and Safety regulations in each territory in which it operates as a minimum and achieves this by ensuring employees receive appropriate training and through regular Health and Safety audits. Working safely is mandatory across the group.

Suppliers

EMCC operate clear and transparent processes for the selection of suppliers. We ensure terms and conditions of business are clear and pay our suppliers within agreed terms of business.

As part of its ethical commitments EMCC operates to the following standards as a minimum and demands that suppliers demonstrate similar compliance.

  1. All employees are entitled to a written contract of employment.
  2. Terms of employment will be fair and meet or exceed legislated minimum level requirements.
  3. Any person employed below the age of 18 must not be involved in hazardous work and the child’s interests must be paramount. Consideration should be given to the number of hours worked so they do not interfere with schooling or education and overtime hours should be restricted.  Employment practices of young people must follow internationally acceptable standards.
  4. There must be no forced or otherwise exploited labour. Workers must be free to leave employment with reasonable notice, must be paid in freely disposable currency and must not be forced to lodge identity papers or passports with their employer. They must not be forced to make payments to their employer to secure employment.
  5. The supplier shall provide a safe, healthy and pollution free working environment.
  6. The supplier must not engage in activities that affect the environment in a way that puts people’s lives and health at any significant risk.
  7. The supplier shall provide First Aid medical care and supplies to all employees and must have at least one person available trained in basic First Aid.

EMCC expects its suppliers to operate broadly equivalent Corporate Responsibility policies and in turn expect the same from their suppliers.

Tax

EMCC’s policy is to account for and pay all tax legally due and to observe all tax rules and regulations applicable in the countries we operate in. We have a duty to maximise shareholder value and therefore we minimise tax liability where possible by all legal means and take advantage of applicable tax incentives where they coincide with the company’s objectives.

Environment

EMCC is and will not engage in any activity that affects the environment in a way that puts people’s lives and health at any significant risk. The Company’s activities do and will not contribute significantly to local or global pollution or directly adversely impact or endanger local or remote ecosystems, rainforests, plant or animal species.

Company policy is to wherever possible use recycled and recyclable products and supplies made from materials procured from sustainable sources.

The company encourages employees to minimise pollution contribution related to company activities including transport to work and use of resources.
