EMCC Software works closely with UIQ to provide platform component development as well as advanced developer training.
UIQ Competence Centre
UIQ inaugurated their UIQ Competence Centre programme in June 2005 with EMCC as the first company to be announced with that status. As well as contributing to the development of the UIQ platform’s precursor (known as Quartz) EMCC continues to be heavily involved in developing many of the components intended for future versions. Over the last two years EMCC has run regular developer training courses for UIQ engineering personnel and further courses are planned for the next year. EMCC has also worked on long-term development projects for UIQ’s parent company, Sony Ericsson.
UIQ Development Experience
Sales of Sony Ericsson smartphones is growing rapidly and UIQ itself is becoming an increasingly attractive proposition for manufacturers. EMCC has been tasked with the development of a number of components such as the new application launcher, and additional functionality involving extensions to the DRM capability, support for Push over Cellular, Contact synchronization and video ring tones. Many of our development projects have involved creating bespoke solutions for UIQ devices or porting existing applications to this platform. One major project involved implementing the BlackBerry Connect service onto Sony Ericsson’s entire range of UIQ handsets from the P800 onwards.
